If you check the actual data compression format of the merged file you will see it still contains H.264/AAC data and, in my case, will even retain my chapter track. ![]() As to the change to an MOV file container, this is to be expected. I note you say you "saved them as mov files." If you saved more than one new file, you did not "merge" the separate files into a single file. QT Pro saved them as mov files and they were not able to be opened as m4v's again. In my case I joined 2 freshly created identical chapters of a movie and saved. Since this seems to be a recurring problem recently, I have decided to create a "Quickie" tutorial demonstrating the merging process and will post a link in an hour or two when I finish if you are interested. ![]() This work flow does work when performed properly and I must assume your work flow is in error. If you will excuse my butting in here, QTKirk is quite correct.
